Podcasts: The SG Show #24 Your Seven Year Old, NAUSET TECHNOLOGY NEWS: Podcast 7: Annette Lamb on "Comfort Sources", and Our City Podcasts: Sheltered Bay, Honolulu, HI.

I listened to all 3 of these podcasts. The first podcast is a father and son who talk about a variety of things from books that they have read to jokes. I really liked this podcast. I think that it is a great way for children to learn about the uses of technology and also involves spending time with family. I enjoyed the causal conversation of the podcast and found it to be informative, organized, and fun. I think a podcast like this is a great family activity and could encourage other families to follow suit and explore new technology with their kids.

The second podcast from Nauset Technology News on "Comfort Sources" was short and to the point. The podcast got me thinking about my comfort sources. Annette Lamb was asked about the use of google and wikipedia as primary sources for information. She makes the important point that those are good places to start research but that there is a wealth of other sources available. She emphasizes the importance of making students aware of their options when it comes to resources.

The final podcast that I listened to was from Our City Podcasts. I chose to listen to a third grade class from Sheltered Bay Honolulu Hawaii.  It was very fun to listen to third graders give information on their state and the various islands' history. Listening to these kinds of podcasts makes me really want to give my students the opportunity to learn and take part in these kinds of activities. I think that podcasts are a new fun way for students to express their knowledge and really be proud of the finished product. Also these kinds of projects can be shared with anyone, family and friends at home or in another country, it is just one more way of expressing and communicating information.
