Hi I am Flat Stanley I am visiting college students at Concordia University in Portland Oregon. They are all studying to become teachers. When they are not busy studying they like to take me sight seeing in Oregon. Oregon has mountains, beaches, rivers, and waterfalls. Since this week they had no school they took me on many adventures. On Monday I went the Children's Museum, which is about 20 minutes from Concordia. The Children's Museum is a place to play and pretend about real life jobs. There is a doctor's office, a grocery store, a theater, construction, art center, and story time. My favorite was the grocery store and café because it is fun to shop, ring up the food, and serve it to friends. On Tuesday I hopped in the car and drove for an hour to Mt Hood and played in the snow. I built a snowman, made snow angels, and went sledding. On Wednesday I drove two hours to Cannon Beach. I saw haystack rock, which is a big rock that looks like a haystack and explored tide pools. The tide pools were fun to look at. They were filled with star fish and sea anemones. Thursday was Thanksgiving. I spent it with friends on campus. After eating way too much food, we decided to take a hike at Multnomah Falls. The drive was about a half an hour. Multnomah Falls is the second the tallest year round waterfall in the nation. We hiked all the way to the top!!! The hike is just over one mile long. Friday we braved the crowds and woke up at 4:30am to hit the sales! We went to Pioneer Place in downtown Portland. We rode the max train downtown which is our metro area transit. When we arrived the first stop was a nearby Starbucks. We shopped from store to store looking for good bargains. We hit the newly remodeled Macy's. Macy's has great Christmas window displays. I bought a new winter coat to endure the cold wet weather of the northwest. We grabbed a honkin huge burrito from the Honkin Huge Burrito vendor. Yum!!!!! After a long day of shopping we went back to campus to relax and watch movies. Tomorrow morning I have to fold myself up and head off to my next adventure. I am leaving the northwest for the east coast. Maybe I will see the Liberty Bell and try some Hershey's chocolate fresh from the factory. I can't wait!
Great job writing about Flat Stanley’s adventures, it made the project fun!
These kids now have a good idea of what kind of things are in and around
Portland. I really liked how the tone of the story was in a kid’s voice.
Thanks for doing such a great job.
